I believe most of us have tried to clear the content of a specific cell in Excel. We press the Delete button on our keyboard and the content of the cell has been cleared.
What happens though, when we want to clear the format that we might have applied on a cell or on an area of cells? What happens when we want to clear a Comment or a Hyperlink that we have inserted to a cell or on any area of cells?

That is where the Clear command comes in use. All we have to do is to follow the steps described below. First of all we select the cell or the area of cells and then we select the Home tab and then from the area of the ribbon named Editing which is located at the right of the ribbon we select the arrow at the right of the Clear command as shown in the image below.
Turn Off Conditional Formatting
Once the drop down menu appears we have available the following commands: Clear All: If we select this command all the Formats, Contents, Comments, Hyperlinks will be cleared completely, meaning that the state of cells will become to their default, as when we first used editing them. Clear Formats: If we select this command only the Formatting of the cells will be cleared. Meaning that if we had formatted the cells with a different font, different size font, different font color, different color cell fill, different border, etc. Will be restored to the default. Clear Contents:If we select this command the Contents of the cells will be cleared, meaning that whatever formatting that we may have applied to the cells will be remained and only the contents will be cleared. Clear Comments: If we select this command, the Comments that we may have inserted in a cell will be cleared. Clear Hyperlinks: If we select this command the Hyperlinks that we may have inserted in a cell will be cleared, meaning that the Hyperlink will be removed but the formatting that we have applied to the cell will still remain.

Remove Hyperlinks: If we select this command the Hyperlinks that we have inserted to a cell will be removed as long with all the formatting that we might have applied to the cell.
